There are many active religions in Luxembourg Luxembourg (pronounced /ˈlʌksəmbɜrɡ/ ), officially the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg (Luxembourgish: Groussherzogtum Lëtzebuerg, French: Grand-Duché de Luxembourg, German: Großherzogtum Luxemburg), is a small, landlocked country in western Europe, bordered by Belgium, France, and Germany. Luxembourg has a population of under half a million. The most important, in terms of size of congregation and historical importance, is Roman Catholicism The Catholic Church, also known as the Roman Catholic Church,[note 1] is the world's largest Christian Church. With more than a billion members, over half of all Christians[note 2] and more than one-sixth of the world's population, the Catholic Church is a communion of the Western, or Latin Rite Church, and 22 autonomous Eastern Catholic Churches,, but the state does not support, or discriminate against, any one single religion.
